Horse Racing Preview – Haydock – 10th June 2017

Horse Racing Preview - Musselburgh & Windsor - 16th October 2017

Today’s horse racing preview comes from Haydock with four selections from the meeting. Not the day I was hoping for on Friday, with the Nap just prevailing by a Whisker.

14.20 Haydock  – Betway Sprint Handicap (0-80) (6f)

Michael Appleby’s Fantasy Keeper should be the one to beat in this. The lightly raced son of Mayson showed a good turn of foot at Nottingham when beating Seaview by two lengths. The runner up ran well again when bumping into the smart Kaeso at Ripon on Thursday.

Main dangers and I cannot see that many, Tom Dascombe’s Full Intention, who was beaten over course and distance last time out in similar class, has to be feared in soft conditions.

Fantasy Keeper : 2pt win @ 5/2 (BOG)

14.55 Haydock  – Betway Dash Handicap (0-95) (6f)

The info has been relevantly good over the past couple of weeks, and I have had some here for this race for Handsome Dude. David Barron’s five year old ran a good second at Thirsk last month when behind a potentially improved horse in Naggers who was unlucky not to follow up at Epsom last weekend.

It’s a competitive Handicap and the others that come into the equation are Ecclestone and Reflektor. The former finished three lengths behind Snap Shots three days ago, was not given the best of rides and will certainly be on the premises.

Reflektor, sixth on season’s appearance at Chester, looks stronger when half a length behind recent Epsom dash winner Caspian Prince and Duke of Firenze fourth.

Handsome Dude : 2pts each way @ 8/1 (BOG)

15.30 Haydock  – Betway Pinnacle Stakes (Group 3) (11.8f)

Ajman Princess is a tall order in this for Roger Varian, won on season’s debut as you like when a 1/20 shot at Lingfield back in March, brought that run on when following up at Goodwood landing the Listed Warwick Stakes.

Dubka was well beaten that day when favourite, to say she can improve nine lengths against a fairly useful type is a stiff ask, but did win around this time last year in soft ground over slightly further.

I am going to take them both on with the French raider Bateel, runner up recently in this class at Chantilly, has good form over here around this time last year when winning the Listed Fred Archer Stakes on heavy ground, big player for me here.

Bateel : 2pt win @ 3/1 (BOG)

16.05 Haydock  – Betway John of Gaunt Stakes (Group 3) (7f)

One horse that never seems to win his fair share is Andrew Balding’s Absolutely So. His stats around Haydock read 352, which is reasonable enough for an each way bet. A good second here last month when running up behind Oh This Is Us in the Listed Spring Trophy Stakes.

The winner has since run creditable when third in the Group 3 Diomed Stakes when behind two smart individuals in Sovereign Debt and Gabrial. So Beloved was one length back in third from the Haydock race and meets off the same weights once more.

Breton Rock won the Listed Spring Trophy here three seasons ago and went on to win the Group 2 Hungerford Stakes the same year. But his stats around Haydock read 1-5 and has been beaten on his past three visits here.

His Group 1 Lockinge third to Ribchester was okay I suppose, this is a step in the right direction dropping in class, even though he’s pattern class performer, I would not of brought him here to crack his course voodoo.

Absolutely So : 1pt each way @ 15/2 (BOG)

Good luck today, Gamble Responsibly
